Language Links

Looking for linguistic fun on the Web? We can point you to a couple of neat sites, one with new words and the other with old ones.

Paul McFedries, the fellow behind www.wordspy.com, is dedicated to lexpionage, which he defines as “the sleuthing of new words and phrases.” Don’t expect to find the terms collected and defined here to turn up in the dictionary any time soon, but it sure is fun to sneak a peek at creative coinages.

For more than a decade, volunteers at the not-for-profit www.gutenberg.org have been busy archiving works (mostly in the public domain) to provide free access to the public. More than 10,000 e-texts are available; more are being added all the time, and readers are invited to become involved in the project.
